
Organized a walkout against drugs
SAS Nagar, September 30 Punjab State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authority, SAS. Under the guidelines of Justice Mr. Gurmeet Kaur Sandhwalia (Punjab and Haryana High Court), a walk-thon was organized under the campaign 'Punjab Against Drug Addiction' being launched during October 2023. The walkathon was presided over by Mr. Harpal Singh, District and Sessions Judge S.A.S. N. and flagged off by Mr. Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority. The walk started from the State Authority Head Office Sector-69 and ended at the Rehabilitation Centre, Sector-56, Mohali.

The spokesperson of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority said that the purpose of this talk was to convey the message to the people that the Legal Services Authority is with the drug addicts to rehabilitate them and provide them with legal assistance. Officials of Judicial, Police, District Administration, Health and Education Departments, students of Army Law College and people from different sectors of the society participated on this occasion. During this, the persons present took a vow not to do drugs.
The spokesperson said that this campaign will be conducted from October 1 to October 31 in different villages/cities of the district. During this time, rallies, talks, workshops and seminars will be organized with the support of health, education and police. Along with this, declamation, debate, poster making and chart making etc. competitions will be conducted in schools and colleges. Apart from this, street plays highlighting the ill effects of drugs will also be organized.
The spokesperson said that if any person (who is addicted to drugs) wants to undergo treatment, the District Legal Services will arrange for his treatment at the rehabilitation center free of charge and his identity will be kept confidential.
During the talk, Punjab State Legal Services Authority Additional Member Secretary Mrs. Smriti Dhir, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Mr. Baljinder Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Anish Goyal, J. M. I. C. Mr. Jagjit Singh, J. M. I. C. Mr. M.K. Singla, DSP (City 2) Mr. Harsimran Singh Ball, Dr. Pooja Garg (Psychiatry), Mr. Kulwant Singh, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee also participated.
