Chandigarh, September 24, 2024:- Continuing the celebration of ‘Poshan Maah’, the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, UT Chandigarh organised various activites today, including :-
1. Diarrhoea Prevention Lecture: A comprehensive session focused on diarrhoea prevention was held, where area supervisors educated parents on symptoms, preventive measures, and the preparation of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS).
2. Water Conservation Awareness: As part of Poshan Maah, a significant lecture on water conservation was delivered by Mahila Pardhan Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur at the Sector 32-C Anganwadi Building, emphasizing the critical need for sustainable water practices.
3. Traditional Food Recipes Exhibition: Anganwadi Building Maloya hosted an exhibition showcasing various traditional food recipes. The health benefits of these nutritious dishes were discussed, promoting local culinary heritage.
4. Health and Nutrition Workshops: Additional workshops covered essential topics, including balanced diets, immunization importance, handwashing demonstrations, girl’s education, nutrition during pregnancy, menstrual hygiene for adolescents, the significance of kitchen gardens, and tuberculosis awareness. 5. Mother Group Meetings: Engaging Mother Group Meetings took place in all 450 Anganwadi Centers, focusing on crucial topics like complementary feeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and child vaccination.
6. Growth Monitoring Initiatives: Growth monitoring for children aged 0 to 6 years enrolled in the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) was conducted at all centers, ensuring developmental milestones are being met.
7. Home Visits for Nutritional Guidance: Home visits were performed for severely acute malnourished (SAM), moderately acute malnourished (MAM), stunted, and underweight children, providing families with tailored dietary instructions.
