
Chandigarh Empowers the community through nutrition education and health awareness-building a healthy future for mothers, children and youth
Chandigarh, September 25, 2024,- To mark Poshan Maah which is being celebrated from 1st September to 30th September, today, the Department of Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration has launched a series of impactful initiatives aimed at building healthier futures for mothers, children, and youth by empowering community through nutrition education and health awareness in its Anganwadi Centers.
Chandigarh, September 25, 2024,- To mark Poshan Maah which is being celebrated from 1st September to 30th September, today, the Department of Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration has launched a series of impactful initiatives aimed at building healthier futures for mothers, children, and youth by empowering community through nutrition education and health awareness in its Anganwadi Centers.
These initiatives include Promoting Diet Diversity wherein a comprehensive lecture on the importance of diet diversity and age-appropriate feeding was successfully conducted in the Manimajra circle.
An anemia testing camp was organized at the Dispensary in Sector 25, Rehabilitation Colony-Dhanas. A total of 90 tests were conducted, focusing specifically on pregnant women. A dedicated session on "Poshtik Ahaar" (nutritious food) was held in the Burail circle.
Furthermore, home visits were performed for severely acute malnourished (SAM), moderately acute malnourished (MAM), stunted, and underweight children, providing families with tailored dietary instructions. Youth group meetings were organized across all 450 Anganwadi Centres, engaging young individuals in discussions about nutrition and health. These meetings serve to empower youth as advocates for better health practices in their communities, fostering a culture of wellness and awareness.
