Referring to the data of the National Records Bureau regarding crimes, Dr. Poonam Manik said that the increasing circulation of drugs in Punjab can be estimated from these data. That 4373 cases were registered under the NDPS Act by the Punjab Police in the first six months of the year 2024 and 6002 people were arrested in this regard.
Referring to these data, Dr. Poonam Manak said that in the last two years there has been a 39 percent increase in the seized drugs from Punjab. He said that according to the statistics, 37364 kg of drugs were seized in Punjab in the year 2020. While in the year 2022, there has been a 39 percent increase in the seized drugs And in the year 2022, 49421 kg of drugs have been seized.
He raised questions on the state government's claims of curbing drugs and said that if the police administration had been strict on drugs, then today there would not have been so many cases registered among drug dealers and drug addicts.
Dr. Poonam Manik expressed concern over the continuous involvement of the youth in the mire of drugs in the state and said that the government should immediately put a stop to drugs and save the youth of the state.
