Una, August 6 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Tuesday launched a new initiative 'Samarthya' dedicated to youth and women welfare in Una district. This initiative of the district administration will work to empower youth, women and different sections of the society and promote community development through various programs and activities.

This initiative of the district administration will work to empower youth, women and different sections of the society and promote community development through various programs and activities.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal told in the inaugural program that work will be done for 6 main components - fitness, competitiveness, art and culture, entrepreneurship, awareness and control and promotion of social values. Mainly the focus will be on creating an encouraging environment along with structural construction. He requested active cooperation from the industrial units of the district under social responsibility (CSR) for the success of this initiative implemented by the courtesy of District Red Cross Society. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner himself took the initiative of donation and contributed 25 thousand from his side to the Red Cross. He appealed to all the residents of the district to become partners in this initiative and provide financial support.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Chief Minister Mr. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has a special emphasis on making Himachal drug free. Along with this, he is focusing on the self-reliance of youth and women to build a self-reliant Himachal. Samarthya is an important initiative in this direction, in which the focus will be on empowering every section of the society, so that they can use their full potential and contribute to community development.

Giving information about the 6 main components of the program, Jatin Lal said that under the first component fitness, emphasis will be laid on open gymnasiums, playgrounds, yoga courts and community sports events at the panchayat level with the aim of saving the youth from drug addiction and channelizing their energy in the right direction. Under the second component competitiveness, helping children prepare for competitive examinations includes UPSC coaching, higher studies scholarship, reading room and preparation for army entrance examination. In the third component art and culture, focus will be on crafts, culture centers, festivals, celebrations, cultural tours and language courses to promote art and culture. Under the fourth component entrepreneurship, emphasis will be laid on livelihood centers, job fairs, self-help group cooperation and agricultural modernization. In the fifth component awareness and control, work will be done on de-addiction campaign, cleanliness campaign, environmental protection and malnutrition eradication. Under the sixth component 'social value promotion', women empowerment, value education camps, blood donation camps and community service activities will be promoted.
The administration will bear the cost of education of 25 needy girls
Launching 'Samarthya', Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal started a program to help girls from economically weaker sections in higher education. Under this program, the administration will bear the cost of education of 25 needy girls from poor families. Under this scheme, applications can be made in the Deputy Commissioner's office till August 25 to get financial assistance.
Only those girls are eligible to apply whose father has passed away or whose father is more than 70 percent disabled. The applicant should be a resident of Una district, should not be a beneficiary of any other scheme, and their family's annual income should not exceed Rs 50,000. Selected girls will be provided financial assistance up to Rs 2 lakh for their degree or higher education. In the first phase, 25 girls will be selected on the basis of their marks and educational qualification. Information related to the application can be obtained from Room No. 413 of the Deputy Commissioner's Office.

In the launch program of Samarthya, the Deputy Commissioner had a direct interaction with the representatives of the industrial units of the district. During this, he discussed the implementation and collaborative aspects of the program. The representatives of the industrial units wholeheartedly appreciated the vision of the Deputy Commissioner and this new initiative and pledged to cooperate in every way. In the direct interaction, they assured their participation in various components of the program.

The 'Samarthya' program is the result of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal's dedicated thinking towards social concern. The Deputy Commissioner said that during his IAS probation period, he got a chance to understand the needs of the society. He found that there is a need for an initiative focused on community development, in which youth should be given the right direction, they should be made self-reliant and women welfare work should be done. When he became DC, he got the opportunity to bring his vision to the ground. He called upon everyone to work as a team.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar, Joint Director Industries Anshul Dhiman, Secretary of Red Cross Society and CPO Sanjay Sankhyan, all SDMs of the district and representatives of industrial units were present.
