Garhshankar, June 10 - Although the condition of truck operators in Punjab is already very poor, but the additional financial burden on truck operators for some time has broken their back.
The unions of truck operators have remained just unions, in fact, the members of these unions are facing severe economic recession.
It has come to light from conversations with many truck operators of Punjab that it is becoming very difficult for truck operators to keep the documents of their vehicles completely updated. Because the government fees are so high that if an operator starts completing it, he gets nothing.
For example, it has become difficult for a truck operator to bear the expenses of running a truck in routine apart from passing a 15-year-old vehicle, annual insurance and quarterly road tax.
For these reasons, many truck operators have left their business and if we listen to those few people who are still associated with this profession, then it becomes clear that the governments have never taken care of the people associated with this business till date.
President Narinder Singh Mann, members Malkit Singh, Pawan Kumar Omkar Singh Jagdish Singh Gurdarshan Singh Pal Kheper and others from Garhshankar Truck Union said during the conversation that at this age they cannot start any new business. Therefore, there is an appeal to the government to give concessions to truck operators by reducing the rates of passing insurance and road tax of trucks and those operators whose tax has been waived should be exempted from all the previous taxes.
