A special campaign to look for visually impaired children among the children studying in schools from today

Patiala, January 1 - A week-long special campaign is being conducted from January 2 to January 9 across the district to look for visually impaired children among the children studying from 1st to 12th in government and recognized schools. To review the preparations in this regard, a meeting was held with the District Nodal Officer, School Health and District Ophthalmic Officers under the supervision of Dr. SJ Singh, District Program Officer of Prevention of Blindness Program by Assistant Director Health and Family Welfare Punjab Dr. Jatinder Kansal.

Patiala, January 1 - A week-long special campaign is being conducted from January 2 to January 9 across the district to look for visually impaired children among the children studying from 1st to 12th in government and recognized schools. To review the preparations in this regard, a meeting was held with the District Nodal Officer, School Health and District Ophthalmic Officers under the supervision of Dr. SJ Singh, District Program Officer of Prevention of Blindness Program by Assistant Director Health and Family Welfare Punjab Dr. Jatinder Kansal.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Jatinder Kansal said that this is a special initiative of the Punjab Government Health Department under which the children studying in schools will be selected on priority basis and given eye glasses on time so that they can Children's education should not be harmed. He said that in the first phase, about 17 government and recognized high and higher secondary schools of Patiala Urban and Rural Areas of the district have been selected which will cover about 15000 students. Nodal officer Dr. SJ Singh said that 6 RBSK teams and 9 ophthalmic officers have been put on duty to identify children with low vision through eye screening of children, who will go to schools throughout the week to screen children's eyes and low vision. They will prepare a list of glasses numbers of sighted children so that those children with low vision can be given free glasses soon. On this occasion, District Nodal Officer of School Health Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Nodal Officer Shakti Khanna and all ophthalmic officers of the district were present.
