Ban on cutting of green mango, neem, pipal and banyan trees in the district - District Magistrate

District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa using the powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974) ordered the cutting of very important green mango, neem, pipal and banyan trees within the limits of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. A complete ban has been issued. In the issued orders, it has been said that if it is necessary to cut the said trees in special circumstances, then they should be cut with the approval of the Forest Department.

In the issued orders, it has been said that if it is necessary to cut the said trees in special circumstances, then they should be cut with the approval of the Forest Department.
For this purpose, the same procedure will be adopted by the Forest Department, which is followed for issuing permits in closed area under Section-4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Protection Act, 1900. It has been said in these orders that it has been observed that some people are cutting green mango, neem, pipal and banyan trees unnecessarily. These trees have religious significance since ancient times and have a great contribution in protecting the environment from pollution. Apart from this, wild animals and birds usually roost on these big trees. While the environment is adversely affected by the cutting of such trees, there is also an adverse effect on the habitats of birds, due to which many species of birds are becoming extinct. For this reason, it is necessary to stop their cutting. These orders will remain in force till February 29, 2023.

Prohibition of bursting of firecrackers on wedding day, New Year's Day or any joyous festival -
District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in pursuance of orders passed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Civil Writ Petitions 23548 of 2017 and 23905 of 2017 on wedding day, New Year's Day or any auspicious occasion. Prohibition has been ordered on firecrackers. These orders issued in exercise of powers under Section 144 of the Constitution of the Penal Code, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974) shall remain in force till February 28, 2023.

Prohibition of unauthorized construction of religious places in the district -
District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has banned the unauthorized construction of any kind of religious place on government places/public places/streets/parks of the district. Under Section 144 of the Penal Code Constitution, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974), these prohibitory orders will remain in force throughout the district till February 28, 2023.
        According to the District Magistrate, the Hon'ble Supreme Court in SLP (Civil) 8519/2006 Government of India v. Government of Gujarat has strictly prohibited the construction of religious place in any public place, park or street etc. These prohibitory orders have been issued only in compliance with these orders. He said that it will be the responsibility of the heads of different departments that no temple, church, mosque or gurdwara should be constructed in any such place under their jurisdiction and they should keep a regular check on it. They have instructed the functional officers of the municipal councils, block development and panchayat officers and sarpanches not to allow unauthorized construction of any religious place on the land of municipal council/panchayat/shamlat/joint owners. If any person commits a violation, it should be immediately reported to the nearest police station/station. They have also asked the Senior Police Superintendent of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to immediately file a complaint against any person who violates these prohibitory orders and stop the construction. These orders will remain in force till February 28, 2023.

Ban on flying/using drones without permission -
District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, in view of the incidents of anti-social elements carrying out illegal activities with the help of drones in the border districts within the state, against any kind of drone flying/use within the limits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. Prohibition orders have been issued.
        The District Magistrate, using the powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974), has imposed a complete ban on the operation of drones without permission at weddings/religious functions and other programs within the district limits. These orders will remain in force till February 28, 2023.
