SAS Nagar, December 4 - Mohali Center of Brahmakumari Sansthan organized a special program to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in road accidents at Sukh Shanti Bhawan Phase 7. Mohali Assistant Commissioner Harjot Kaur participated as the chief guest on this occasion. The event was presided over by Brahmakumari Premalata, in-charge of Raja Yoga Centers of Mohali region of the organization while Brahmakumari Aditi was present as the keynote speaker.
Chief guest Harjot Kaur said that traffic rules are made only for our safety and they are only for our benefit. He said that people should follow the rules for the safety of themselves and others, but it has been observed that people follow the traffic rules only out of fear of challans and sticks.
Presiding over the programme, Brahmakumari Premalata said that Rajyoga can help a lot in preventing road accidents as it gives peace of mind, patience, endurance and strength to follow the rules. On this occasion, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in road accidents.
During her address, the chief speaker of the event Brahmakumari Aditi said that every 24 seconds in the world one person loses his life in a road accident. He said that 85 percent of road accidents are due to human errors and 5 percent due to technical reasons. He said that nowadays many accidents are caused by not wearing helmet and seat belt and also using mobile while driving.
Addressing on this occasion, media coordinator of Punjab zone of the organization, Brahmakumar Karam Chand said that while driving, mobile, liquor and intoxicants should not be used. He said that we should start our journey on time keeping in mind the distance to the destination so as to avoid stress and accidents.
On this occasion, police inspector Jatin Kapoor gave information about traffic rules. He said that it is necessary for us to wear helmets even for short distance or local travel. Follow the traffic rules yourself and don't blame others because we learn by watching what we do, so we should understand our responsibility to follow the rules. Brahmakumari Meena made people aware about traffic signs.
