Speaking to reporters here today, President of Ex-Servicemen Grievance Cell Lt. Col. SS Sohi (retd) said that due to the efforts of the organization, Corporal Davinder Singh (80) of Breta (Mansa)
After a long struggle of 50 years, got the reservist pension. He stated that Davinder Singh joined the Indian Air Force on 14.12.1963 under terms and conditions 9/6 (9 years regular service and 6 years regular or reservist service followed by pension) but he was given 10 After one year's service was granted leave without pension on 30.11.1973.
Colonel Sohi said that to meet the financial needs of the family, Corporal Davinder Singh sold his property in Ludhiana and bought a landed property at Mansa village. He started a poultry farm and later started a dairy farm along with agriculture during which he became quite successful.
Colonel Sohi said that Davinder Singh contacted him for pension in 2017. After examining his documents, the organization filed a case in 2018 at the Armed Forces Tribunal, Chandigarh. He said that in the Air Force records in the court, it is said that Corporal Davinder Singh has not completed his 15 years of service, so he cannot be given pension. Advocate RN Ojha for the institute argued that the Army violated the terms and conditions of 9/6 years and unilaterally discharged Davinder Singh against the wishes of Corporal Davinder Singh after 10 years of service.
Varna Davinder Singh could have completed 15 years of service for pension.
He said that the Armed Forces Tribunal took cognizance of this and ordered Corporal Davinder Singh to be given reservist pension for life on October 27, 2023. Colonel Sohi said that now Corporal Davinder Singh will get a reservist's pension of around Rs 16000 including dues from 2015 and all other service benefits like free medical treatment for the family under ECHS and CSD canteen services.
