Aadhaar cards issued ten years back should be ensured to be updated: Bhavana Garg

Patiala, November 23 - Deputy Director General UIDAI Bhavna Garg held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Patiala Sakshi Sahni and took stock of the progress of the Aadhaar project in the district. On this occasion, the increasing use of Aadhaar and the new guidelines of the Government of India were also discussed.

During the meeting Bhavana Garg said that the government has started an exercise to strengthen the Aadhaar of Indians by updating their latest identity proof and address proof. He said that if a citizen had registered for Aadhaar before 2015 and has not updated it even once, he should take the necessary documents to the nearest Aadhaar center and get Aadhaar updated. He also informed that this facility can also be availed through online services of UIDAI and it is free of charge till December 14, 2023.
On this occasion, he emphasized the importance of mobile number being registered in Aadhaar as residents can log on to https://myaadhaaruidai.govin/ or use UIDAI. DM can avail online Aadhaar services through Aadhaar application. As Aadhaar has emerged as the most accepted proof of identity, with provisions to identify a resident through biometric authentication, residents will be able to use it securely by locking their biometrics online.
