Patiala, October 28: While reviewing the efforts being made for the proper disposal of stubble during the current season in Patiala district, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that the cluster officers should maintain direct contact with the farmers to provide machinery to the farmers. He said that now the arrival of paddy in the markets is happening rapidly and it is also time for wheat sowing, so to provide machinery to the farmers on time, the relevant departments should work in coordination to manage the stubble in the district. Officials of various departments including Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Punjab Pollution Control Board were present in the meeting.
Sakshi Sahni instructed the officials that since it is the time of wheat sowing, the farmers should be made aware to use in situ techniques and in the areas where there are heavy lands, baler should be made. He said that the cluster officers should continuously inform the farmers of the villages under them about the availability of machinery through WhatsApp groups.
He asked the officials of the agriculture departments to make continuous efforts to inform the farmers about the machines like baler, super seeder happy seeder mulcher and surface seeder and to make them aware about the benefits of the environment, farmers and land. On this occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Gurnam Singh said that the department is continuously holding meetings in the villages so that the farmers can be made aware of the new machinery and the damage caused by setting the stubble on fire.
