
Beginning of Guru Chela tradition to preserve folk arts
SAS Nagar, October 5 – Universal Art and Culture Welfare Society has launched the Guru Chela Parampara to revive the dying folk arts. Under this, Vice President of Universal Art and Culture Welfare Society Mohali and International Algoza player Ustad Karamjit Singh Bagga was honored by his five students. Painter and film actor Narendra Neena attended as a special guest on this occasion.

The felicitation ceremony held in Mohali was conducted by eminent lyricist Sumi Tapriyawala while welcoming all the dignitaries. Actress Sukhbir Pal Kaur presided over the event. While appreciating this initiative, he congratulated the youth associated with the Guru Chela tradition, saying that these youth are the future of the country and the responsibility of preserving the civilized values of our society is theirs.
Baga's five apprentices Karmwar Mandeep Singh, Hardeep Singh Manna, Harkirat Pal Singh, Shaganpreet Khurani and Kartik Khurmi accepted the apprenticeship by giving them turbans and sweets.
Inspector Kuldeep Singh, folk singer Gary Gill, Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, Bagga's colleague Saudagar Singh Komal Assistant Unit Officer (Retired) and the world's first woman algoza player Anurit Pal Kaur were also present on this occasion.
