Hoshiarpur - District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that the Sakhi One Stop Center is one of the best schemes run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the welfare of women and girls. He said that the Sakhi One Stop Center of Hoshiarpur is proving to be a boon to ensure the safety of needy women and girls and so far 910 needy women and girls have been provided free legal, medical, police, social and mental support in this centre. 
He said that the One Stop Center provides integrated services under one roof to women affected by violence, exploitation or any other problem. These services include medical assistance, police assistance, legal assistance, psychological counseling and temporary assistance services. He said that there is a need to spread maximum awareness about the Sakhi One Stop Center keeping in mind the safety of women and girls.
Chairperson District Planning Committee said that the main objective of this scheme is to protect women in every way. He said that efforts are also made to rehabilitate the women and girls assisted in the center by counseling them and if necessary, they are also given temporary shelter for 5 days. He said that the Sakhi One Stop Center was started on 29 November 2018 at the District Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and now a separate building has also been prepared in the hospital premises. The employees working in this center also go to different areas of the district to educate the common people about the purpose of Sakhi One Stop Center and the facilities provided in this center.
Aarti Bhalla, center manager of Sakhi One Stop Center, said that any woman or girl in need can contact the office phone number 01882-254112 and report their problem. Apart from this, women or girls who are victims of violence can contact helpline number 181 for immediate help and emergency number 112 in case of need.
