
The call for Bharat Bandh received a mixed response in Jalandhar

Apart from some parts of Jalandhar Cantonment, Dhan Mohalla, Puli Ali Mohalla, all the other markets remained open almost as usual. Of course, there was less excitement in the market

Markets in Nakodar, Jandiala-Manjki, Jamsher, Noormahal, adjoining towns of Jalandhar also remained normal. Traffic on the roads remained less than usual In view of the call for the bandh, the number of students in the schools decreased, the number of students remained around 15-20 percent. There was no news of any untoward incident and no protest was seen anywhere The administration had deployed police forces at some key places in the city to control any situation in the city
The Bharat Bandh was called by the Reservation Defense Struggle Samiti on August 21, in protest against the recent Supreme Court judgment recognizing reservations within reservations (quota within a quota). Bandh was called in many states of India The committee has said that the purpose of the bandh is to oppose the above decision of the Supreme Court so that the court withdraws this decision.
