Pregabalin medicine should not be given by the pharmacy without the doctor's approval

Nawanshahr - District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has issued an order using powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 that Pregabalin medicine should be given by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a prescribed time. He directed that the pharmacy will have to keep a complete record of this medicine.

He said that the Civil Surgeon has informed through his office letter Drugs / 2023/452 dated 24.8.2023 that Pregabalin is commonly used to treat patients suffering from diseases like fibromyalgia / neuralgia as prescribed by medical experts / psychiatrists / GDMOs. But in high doses, Pregabalin medicine can be misused as an addiction. Therefore, Pregabalin medicine should be given by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a prescribed time. This order will remain in force till August 25, 2024.
