Nawanshahr - Red Cross De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized a religious program on the theme of Martyrdom Day of the fifth Guru Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. On this occasion, Singh Sahib Bhai Lovepreet Singh Katha Vachak Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Nawanshahr enlightened the Sangat about his life from birth to his martyrdom.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji was born on 15 April 1563. He was the son of Guru Ramdas and Mata Bibi Bhani. He said that he was the youngest of the three sons of father Guru Ram Das and Mata Bibi Bhani Ji. Guru Arjan Dev Ji, following the Guru tradition, never bowed down to wrong deeds. He accepted to sacrifice himself to protect the refugees, but did not bow down to the Mughal ruler Jahangir. He always favored human service. He was a true martyr in Sikhism. The tradition of sacrifice in Sikhism started from him. This martyrdom of Guru Sahib showed the way to Sikhs to follow the teachings of Akal Purakh and protect their rights with patience and determination. The martyrdom of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji further strengthened this path shown by the first Pati Shah. Jahangir sentenced Guru Sahib under Yasa-e-Siyast, which means to kill by torture. In the summer season, the tyrants made Guru Sahib sit in a boiling cauldron, made him walk on a hot plate and burning sand was poured over his body. But despite suffering physical pain, he remained steadfast in the will of the Creator. Thus, after many tortures, Guru Sahib was martyred in 1606. Gurdwara Dera Sahib is situated on the banks of Ravi in ??Lahore, which is a place dedicated to this martyrdom.
In the end, Chaman Singh Project Director thanked Bhai Sahib and asked to implement the thoughts given by him in their lives. He said that we should always stay away from bad habits like addiction, so that we can live our life in the true sense. Jaswinder Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Manjit Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Dinesh Kumar, Manjot and Marij were present on the occasion.
