Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Series of nominations in Punjab from today

Chandigarh/Patiala, May 6 - Nominations for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Punjab will begin tomorrow from May 7. To conduct these elections in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner, the Election Commission of India has appointed general and police observers for 13 seats in Punjab. All these officers will assume their duties from May 14. Giving information about this, Chief Election Officer of Punjab Sibin C said that 13 IAS officers from different states have been appointed as General Observers. While 7 IPS officers have been appointed as police observers.

All these officers will assume their duties from May 14. All these officers will perform their duty to ensure compliance with Election Commission of India rules and instructions regarding election code during the elections. The officers who have been posted as General Observers include K Mahesh (2009 batch) for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, Siddharth Jain (2001) for Amritsar, Abhimannyu Kumar (2011) for Khadur Sahib, J Meghanath Reddy (2013) for Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur Dr R Anand Kumar (2003), Dr Hira Lal for Anandpur Sahib (2010), Divya Mittal for Ludhiana (2013), Rakesh Shankar for Fatehgarh Sahib (2004), Ruhi Khan for Faridkot (2013), Kapil Meena for Ferozepur (2010), Dr S Prabhakar (2009) has been appointed for Bathinda, Shanavas S (2012) for Sangrur, and Om Prakash Bakoria (2006) for Patiala Lok Sabha seat.
Similarly in police observers
Kushal Pal Singh (2014 batch) for Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seats.
Sweta Srimali (2010) for Amritsar and Khadur Sahib.
Satish Kumar Gajabhiye (2002) for Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
Sandeep Gajanan Diwan for Anandpur Sahib and Fatehgarh Sahib (2010),
B Shankar Jaiswal (2001) for Bathinda and Faridkot.
AR Damodhar for Ferozepur (2013)
And Ameer Javed (2012) has been appointed for Sangrur and Patiala Lok Sabha seats.
It is worth mentioning that earlier 15 expenditure observers have also been appointed, who are IRS officials.
