Farmers should prefer to buy certified paddy seeds from PAU Ludhiana and certified agencies. He directed the agricultural officers to check all the seed selling centers in the district not to allow the sale of Pusa 44 variety and if any dealer is found violating the order, action should be taken against him under the Seed Control Order 1983. He said that Pusa 126 type of paneer should be sown between May 25 and June 20 and 25-30 days old paneer should be dug and planted in the field. Pusa 126 is a short maturing medium height variety.
Planting this variety saves water and due to less stubble, sowing of wheat can be done on time using stubble handling machines. This variety is resistant to bacterial attack of blight and has an average yield of 30.0 quintals per acre.
