Una, April 20 - With the aim of increasing the voting percentage in the district, the administration is busy making the youth as well as the common people aware about voting by organizing voter awareness camps at various places. District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner said that to ensure 100% voting percentage, awareness messages are being given through literacy campaign, slogan writing and poster writing campaign. He said that in the last Lok Sabha elections, there was less than 70 percent voter turnout at 51 polling stations in the district. Under special campaigns to increase the voting percentage in these polling stations, youth as well as every citizen will be made aware so that the voting percentage can be increased.
Election school will be organized at every polling station on the first Saturday of every month.
He informed that first-time voters, youth and women are being educated and motivated about the importance of their vote through various platforms such as social media, local newspapers, radio and community events. School and college children are being made aware under the literacy campaign. He informed that children will be made aware through electoral literacy clubs on the third Saturday of every month in senior secondary schools/colleges and EROs/AEROs/Election Law Officers will personally participate in the awareness programme. Apart from this, Booth Level Officers will organize Election Pathshala at each polling station on the first Saturday of every month.
The District Election Officer said that awareness messages will be given by prominently displaying standard materials and interactive displays related to democracy, voting rights and the electoral process through the Wall of Democracy in all polling stations and all higher educational institutions as well as private professional colleges.
