SAS Nagar, April 15 - The strike by the sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation for the last several days ended today. In this regard, the mayor of the municipal corporation held a meeting with a delegation of cleaning workers and assured them that no cleaning worker will be fired by the municipal corporation and those workers who will be removed from public toilets will be adjusted elsewhere.

In this regard, the mayor of the municipal corporation held a meeting with a delegation of cleaning workers and assured them that no cleaning worker will be fired by the municipal corporation and those workers who will be removed from public toilets will be adjusted elsewhere. Along with this, the Mayor told the delegation that no announcement can be made regarding the demands of the employees due to the fact that the election has been declared and a resolution will be brought in the meeting of the Municipal Corporation regarding their demands. Senior Deputy Mayor S Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Commissioner Dr Navjot Kaur and other officials were also present in the meeting.
According to the information received, the Mayor had previously held a meeting with the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation and other officials regarding the sanitation system which was affected due to the strike of the sanitation workers. After which they held a meeting with the leaders of the cleaning workers In which it was decided to end the strike. In this regard, General Secretary of Punjab Cleaning Labor Federation Pawan Godyal said that in the meeting held with the mayor of the municipal corporation, the mayor has assured not to expel any employee and to bring a resolution in the meeting for the rest of the demands. After which it has been agreed to end the strike.
It is to be mentioned that the sanitation workers were on strike for the last several days And the sanitation workers had announced that if their demands were not accepted, the work of collecting garbage from people's houses in the city would also be stopped. The demands of the sanitation workers include withdrawing the decision to lay off 200 employees of public toilets, increasing the salary given to the sanitation workers and other demands.
