Una, April 11:- District Magistrate Una Jatin Lal has ordered all the arms holders to deposit their licensed weapons by April 20 to conduct the Lok Sabha elections and 2 assembly by-elections in the district in a free, fair and fear-free manner. Earlier the deadline for this was March 25, which has now been extended till April 20.
He has asked all the gun owners to deposit their arms and ammunition in the nearest police station or authorized dealer or arms house by April 20. He said that action will be taken against those who disobey the orders as per law.
However, this order will not apply to armed, paramilitary forces, home guards, police personnel, security guards of nationalized-notified commercial banks and personnel handling the responsibility of law and order. Apart from this, members of the National Rifle Association participating in various sports events will also be exempted from these orders.
