Patiala, April 1 - The Vigilance Patiala team has arrested a former Akali leader who allegedly accepted a bribe of two and a half lakh rupees in the name of a Vigilance officer. Former Youth Akali Dal leader Sahil Goyal has been arrested along with his associate Paramjit Singh Pamma. Sahil, who was close to Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, was currently working as party in-charge of Shiv Sena Punjab.

The Vigilance Patiala team took this action on the complaint of Jagsir Ram. According to the complaint, Jagsir's mother Pappi Devi is the former sarpanch of Arnetu (Patdar) village. The complaint lodged against his mother on the charge of embezzlement in various government grants issued for the village in the year 2019 is being investigated. Both the accused said that they have spoken to SSP Vigilance Patiala and the accused will defend the former sarpanch. In return, they took Rs 2.50 lakh. In this regard, Jagsir Ram had complained on the online portal of vigilance. On the instructions of SSP Patiala Vigilance Jagatveer Singh, a team led by Inspector Harsimranjit Singh was arrested today.
