Chandigarh, March 13 - The Aam Aadmi Party has condemned the Governor's comments regarding the cancellation of the resolution to provide free water and free parking facility in Chandigarh, saying that it is very disappointing that the Governor before canceling the files. Didn't even consider them.
Speaking to reporters at the party office in Chandigarh today, Mayor of Chandigarh Kuldeep Kumar said that the party had decided to provide free parking facilities and 20,000 liters of free water to the people in Chandigarh. He said that he hoped that these public welfare decisions would be approved by the Local Government Secretary and the Governor without any issue and it would be officially approved.
He said that it is very unfortunate that the Governor rejected these agenda files without seeing them and without any discussion. He said that BJP representatives do not like decisions taken in public interest and they did not even consider the need to discuss such important public matters before commenting on them.
The mayor said that the governor flatly refused to even think about the matter because BJP-nominated governors do not respect the elected representatives of the people. He said that due to the dictatorial attitude of Bharatiya Janata Party, its leaders do not show any respect towards our democracy and elected representatives.
He said that the files of public interest works of the Arvind Kejriwal government there are stopped by the LG on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi is giving free water to the people and if it is possible to give free water to such a large population in Delhi, then it is also possible in Chandigarh. He said that we have a proper plan but the governor is rejecting the file before it reaches his desk.
He said that crores of rupees are spent on hosting government functions and central ministers and on facilities provided to the Governor and MPs in Chandigarh, but when it comes to providing facilities to the common people, suddenly they do not have money. He said that they burden the common people with all kinds of taxes and fees and then enjoy a luxurious lifestyle with that money.
He alleged that the BJP leader is only focused on the profits of his capitalist friends and he wants to give huge financial benefits to these friends by burdening the common people with the facility of paid parking. He said the money collected from paid parking goes into the pockets of a select few and is not used for development or the people.
On this occasion, AAP Chandigarh co-in-charge Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky, AAP Councilor Yogesh Dhingra and Congress Councilor Gurpreet Singh were also present on this occasion.
