National Immunization Day (Pulse Polio 2024)

As Govt of India has directed States/UTs to conduct Pulse Polio Campaign for this year from 03rd to 05th March 2024 in country .So as per directions of GoI, U.T. Chandigarh is also starting this mega National Pulse Polio Campaign from 03rd March 2024 to 05th March 2024 in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh is also starting this mega National Pulse Polio Campaign from 03rd March 2024 to 05th March 2024 in Chandigarh. This is a 3 day Activity, Day 1st is for booth based activity where Children of 0-5 Year age visits pulse polio booth with their parents for two drops of oral polio vaccine. Next two days (4TH & 5TH March 2024) health teams visit every household and vaccinate any children left during booth based activity.

Chandigarh has been given a target of 1,02,749 Children for this campaign. To achieve this target, health department UT Chandigarh has made all preparations like training of Doctors, Health Staff, College Students, School Children and other volunteers along with arrangements like vaccine carriers, Cold Chain equipments. Polio vaccines along with other logistics have already been distributed to every facility in UT Chandigarh .Entire UT Chandigarh has been divided into four zones. Which further are divided into 99 Sector Supervisors areas.

To monitor activity across Chandigarh 99 sector supervisor has been constituted. 460 booths will be established in HWC’s UHWC’s GMCH-32, GMSH-16 PGIMER ESI Hospitals Ramdarbar., Police Hospital Sec-26, Rose Garden Sec-16, ISBT’s, Railway station, Schools, markets etc. and 920 health teams will visit every house to cover Children on 2nd and 3rd Day of the campaign.

Four Night vaccination teams (Taare Zameen Par-A Night Vigil) have been constituted  for coverage of children  of nomads ,rag pickers, beggers ,homeless ,shelter homes, sleeping near showrooms and chidden found at traffic lights in UT Chandigarh .Each team comprises of one Police Personnel, One Vaccinator, One Malaria worker and a Driver. All four teams go into the four directions in Chandigarh from GMSH-16 Administration block .This campaign is usually flagged off by Worthy Director Health Services in Evening hours. This is a unique activity in country as it is conducted only by Health Department of UT Chandigarh wherein children are covered during night as these are likely to be missed during routine day time immunization sessions .

Along with this vaccination teams will be placed at following 13 Transit points in UT Chandigarh (attached).
