Una, February 2 - In collaboration with SDRF and 14th Battalion NDRF, a mock drill on disaster management was organized at Vardhman Steel Industry Complex, Bathri under Haroli sub-division on Friday at 12 noon. In the mock drill, practical exercises regarding relief and rescue operations were done depicting the situation of fire as well as other industrial disasters.
The mock drill started at 12 noon with warning siren, immediately after which Vardhman Ispat Udyog Management informed the District Disaster Management Authority on telephone number 1077 and DDMA Una immediately informed the concerned departments. After this, relief and rescue operations were practically implemented in the premises of Vardhman Steel Industry Bathari. After the entire process of mock drill was completed, all the participating departments gathered at one place and a detailed analysis of the actions taken in the mock drill process was done.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of District Disaster Management Authority, Mahendra Pal Gurjar said that the main aim and objective of this mock drill is to review the emergency response and standard operating procedures of the district regarding industrial disaster management and to review the functioning of various departments at the district level. The aim was to enhance coordination among emergency response operations, highlighting their roles and responsibilities.
On this occasion, Inspector Nafees Khan of NDRF, Sub Inspector SK Thakur of HP SDRF, Fire Officer Nitin Dhiman, Assistant Director of Industries Department Surendra Negi, Dheeraj Kumar from DDMA, managers and workers of Vardhaman Ispat Udyog Bathri, besides health and health officials participated in the mock drill. Officers and employees of other departments including Family Welfare, Police, Fire and 12th Battalion Una of Himachal Home Guards were also present.
