District Legal Services Authority launched "Pan India Campaign Youth Restoring".

Patiala, January 29 - The 'Pan India Campaign-Youth Restoring' has been launched on the occasion of Republic Day under the patronage of National Legal Services Authority and the guidelines of Punjab State Legal Services Authority. The campaign aims to identify and provide legal assistance to currently incarcerated individuals who were potentially minors at the time of the crime.

The campaign aims to identify and provide legal assistance to currently incarcerated individuals who were potentially minors at the time of the crime. Madam Mani Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Patiala visited Central Jail, Patiala. Gagandeep Singh Gheere, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Vikram Kumar, Karandeep Singh Sarwara, Anuradha Shukla, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Sarabjit Kaur, Sarabdeep Singh and Shri Jasmeet Singh Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel were also present. Meanwhile, a meeting was held with the inmates of the jail about their complaints and challenges. Further to address the immediate concerns, Madam Mani Arora organized a legal awareness program during the visit. The objective of the program was to sensitize the jail inmates at the Central Jail, Patiala, covering topics like key provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, plea bargaining, access to free legal services and eligibility criteria for availing legal aid. . Madam Mani Arora highlighted the ongoing initiatives for rehabilitation and skill development of prisoners, including embroidery, sewing and computer training programmes. Apart from this, he said that on the occasion of celebrating Republic Day at Polo Ground Patiala, common people were made aware about free legal services and the National Lok Adalat to be held on 9.3.2024 in District Patiala. Pamphlets regarding free legal services and various information materials were also distributed to the attendees to increase awareness.
