
Review of development works of Patiala by the Committee on Local Governments of Vidhan Sabha
Patiala, January 19 - The committee under the leadership of Chairman and MLA Ludhiana West Gurpreet Bassi Gogi of the Local Government Committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha took a close look at the development works related to the Municipal Corporation and Urban Improvement Trust Patiala. And instructed to generate more resources to increase the income.
Patiala, January 19 - The committee under the leadership of Chairman and MLA Ludhiana West Gurpreet Bassi Gogi of the Local Government Committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha took a close look at the development works related to the Municipal Corporation and Urban Improvement Trust Patiala. And instructed to generate more resources to increase the income. Committee members MLAs Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Amandeep Kaur Arora, Ashok Parashar, Madan Lal Baga and Kuljit Singh Randhawa to complete multi-storied car parking near AC Market, canal water project on time. And directed the concerned officials to take immediate action regarding the illegal possessions at the junk market and in the city.
While welcoming Chairman Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and other committee members on their arrival in Patiala, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli gave information about the projects related to the local government of the city. During the meeting with the officials after their visit, the committee also asked to take action as per the demand of the people regarding the car parking on the land near the AC market of Patiala and to underground the electricity wires in the city.
Chairman Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and other committee members authorized MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli from the committee that the officials of all the departments will give the report regarding the projects discussed by the committee to MLA Kohli within the specified time.
Chairman Gurpreet Basi Gogi said that the committee visited many places and gave instructions to the officials to provide better facilities to the city dwellers. He said that instructions have been given to the Municipal Corporation to complete the 24-hour canal water project on time and to remove illegal encroachments in the junk market and the city and have been asked to take action and submit a report within 15 days. He said that the committee will present its report before the Legislative Assembly.
On this occasion, MLA Ajit Pal Singh Kohli said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the committee has issued necessary instructions to the officials for the timely completion of the projects started for the convenience of Patiala residents. Later, the committee held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni, Chairman Nagar Improvement Trust Megh Chand Shermajra, SP City Muhammad Sarfaraj Alam, ADC Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Joint Commissioner Babandeep Singh Walia and officials of other related departments and reviewed other projects. After reviewing the dairy project at Ablowal, the committee directed the officials of PSPCL to relocate or raise the power lines passing there. He instructed to send the report regarding the illegal possessions in the junk market to the committee through MLA Ajit Pal Singh Kohli within 15 days. Instructions were given by the committee to take an immediate decision regarding Mid Town Plaza, a property of the Municipal Improvement Trust in the city and to generate more resources to increase the income of the Municipal Corporation.
