Nawanshahr - National Labor Organization (NLO) convener Baldev Bharti State Awardee said that his organization will celebrate Ros Lohri on January 12 at Tehsil Complex Nawanshahr. He said that the investigation of 17 off-line applications related to the exgratia grant of deceased construction workers at the office of Tehsildar Nawanshahr has been pending for 33 months. Due to which they are forced to adopt the path of struggle.
               He gave detailed information that for the approval of the applications for the welfare schemes of the construction workers on 18-03-2021 under the chairmanship of Sub-Divisional Magistrate-cum-Chairman Construction Labor Welfare Schemes Screening Committee Sub Division Nawanshahr. A screening committee meeting was held. In which a total of 17 offline applications related to exgratia grant of deceased registered construction workers were asked to be investigated by Tehsildar Nawanshahr. And it was also said that financial assistance will be approved to the widows/heirs of the beneficiaries by accepting these applications in the next meeting dated 08-04-2021 after scrutinizing them. He told that due to Kovid-19 this meeting could not be held on 08-04-2021. Then during the next meeting of Screening Committee held on 12/11/2021 some applications of Wazifa Scheme, Shagan Scheme and Pension Scheme were approved. But no decision could be taken regarding 17 off-line applications of exgratia grant Because the investigation of these applications was not completed by the Tehsildar Nawanshahr office.
           He said that according to the information given under the Right to Information Act by the Office Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nawanshahr on 27-06-2022, no action was taken by the Office Tehsildar Nawanshahr. After this, on 13-01-2023 and 29-08-2023, information was again sought under the Right to Information Act regarding this file from the Office Tehsildar Nawanshahr twice. But even after many months have passed, no information regarding this application has been given by the office of Tehsildar Nawanshahr. Regarding this file on 08/06/2023 Deputy Commissioner S.B.S.Nagar was also requested in writing with details. But still no action was taken in this regard. He said that this file has been hanging at the Tehsildar Nawanshahr office for the last 33 months. While the widows and heirs of the deceased beneficiaries are waiting for exchequer grant financial assistance. During this period many tehsildars came and went But no one has swept away this file of financial assistance to poor widows/heirs that has been gathering dust for 33 months. The huge delay in the scrutiny of these applications is highly objectionable And there is a great injustice to poor needy applicants.
                  He said that the National Labor Organization (NLO) is forced to take social and constitutional struggle, taking strict notice of this great injustice being done to the poor and needy workers. In a letter written to the Tehsildar, they have said that if an investigation regarding this file is not started by January 10, 2024 and its report is not submitted to the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Office of the Labor and Conciliation Officer Circle No.-3 Jalandhar, then the Organization Office Tehsildar On January 12, Nawanshahr will celebrate the Lohri festival in its own way as a protest. A copy of this letter has also been sent to Deputy Commissioner Sh B S Nagar and Sub Divisional Magistrate Nawanshahr.
