Nawanshahr - District Magistrate Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, using the powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974), covered the faces of common citizens driving two-wheelers within the limits of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Driving with closed mouth has been banned.
This ban will not apply to those persons who wear mask or any other thing under medical supervision due to illness or allergy. (especially two-wheeler vehicle drivers) commits robberies, face coverings make it difficult to identify the perpetrators. Therefore, the said order has been issued to prevent criminal incidents in the district by covering the face. These orders will remain in force till February 25, 2024.
