
PEC took a Pledge on Prevention on Child Beggary in UT
Chandigarh: 20th December, 2023:-Punjab Engineering College, (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, today marked a Pledge taking ceremony on Prevention of Child Beggary in UT, Chandigarh, in the auspicious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, Director, Punjab Engineering College, along with Col R. M. Joshi (Registrar, PEC) on 20th December, 2023. Director, PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia administered the pledge amongst all the members of faculty, staff and students of PEC, Chandigarh.

Director PEC shared valuable insights on this needful initiative by the UT Administration.
The UT Administration initiated this Child Beggary Prevention Campaign to ensure the implementation of Mission Vatsalya Scheme (Child Protection Scheme) and other schemes for Child Welfare and Protection in U.T. Chandigarh. Regular Child Beggar rescue drives are also being conducted in the city to rescue children.
All of the faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of PEC, Chandigarh also participated in this Oath/Pledge taking ceremony to mark the Prevention of Child Beggary in UT.It is a right of every child to have a fulfilling childhood. As there is no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children, there is an urgent need to address the issue of child beggary.
