Nawanshahr - Today, Red Cross De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized a drug awareness camp at Government Senior School Usmanpur under the "Drug Free India Abhiyaan". President of the camp Mrs. Dr. Sukhjit Kaur Government Principal Project Director S. Chaman Singh while addressing the students of the school said that it has been observed that students start consuming drugs due to stress or wrong expectations of their teachers as well as parents. Lack of emotional support and disruption in their families makes them vulnerable and increases their dependence on drugs. They use it to calm their state of mental distress. In addition, poverty forces some students to become part of drug-dealing networks and collect pocket money. Hence, it becomes like a vicious circle around the drug addicted students, from which they have no escape until the society comes to their rescue. Students should lead an ideal life by reading biographies of great warriors and taking guidance from them. Students should associate with good society to avoid social evils. Kamaljit Kaur (Counselor) gave information about the Red Cross Center and its admission process. He said that the needy people agree to get rid of addiction and the treatment is absolutely free. Finally, Mrs. Sukhjit Kaur, the teacher, made the students aware about drugs. He said that he will continue this awareness campaign so that students stay away from such evils and thanked the Red Cross team. On this occasion, school staff members Pooja Rani Balveer Singh, Sunanda Rani and students of the school were present.
