District level meeting of District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee related to caste based discrimination and ill-treatment by General Caste category along with Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe category was held in Una which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Una Raghav Sharma. In the meeting, the cases pending under investigation in the police department, cases pending in the court, cases decided by the court, relief amount provided to the victims and relief amount related to caste discrimination and ill-treatment by the general caste category along with the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe category were discussed. Apart from the pending cases, there was a detailed discussion about the cases rejected for various reasons. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the sub-divisional level officers to ensure compliance with the Atrocity Act 1989 by forming committees at the sub-divisional level and ensuring that they meet once in every three months.
Deputy Commissioner Una said that a relief amount of Rs 225,000 has been provided in the form of first and second installment in three cases related to SC/ST Act 1989. He said that in this regard, a total of 45 cases are pending in the court till November 30, 2023, while four cases are under investigation in the police department. Apart from this, three cases have been decided by the court from October 1, 2023 to November 30, 2023 and 9 cases are pending for relief amount. Whereas two cases have been dismissed due to lack of evidence.
On this occasion, SDM Bangana Manoj Kumar, SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma, SDM Una Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan, SDM Gagret Shashi Pal Sharma, District Justice Eklavya, Assistant District Justice Pramod Negi, ASP Una Sanjeev Bhatia, DSP Una Ajay Thakur, BDO Una K L Verma, BDO Amb Om Pal Dogra, BDO Gagret Neel Kamal and officers and employees of various departments and government and non-government members of the district level vigilance and monitoring committee related to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were also present.
