Patiala, November 30 - District and Sessions Judge cum Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority Rupinderjit Chahal Patiala and Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Mani Arora inspected Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail, Nabha.
During the visit, District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal spoke to the inmates lodged in the jails about their grievances/problems. The Superintendent of Jails, other officers and staff of Jails were directed to ensure timely redressal of their grievances/problems.
At New District Jail Nabha, 32 jail inmates who have completed the computer training course were distributed certificates by the District and Sessions Judge, Patiala and were also given prizes after taking their computer skills test.
A computer training course for women jail inmates has also been started today at New District Jail, Nabha in collaboration with Play Ways Senior Secondary School, Patiala. Apart from this, Mrs. Mani Arora, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala organized legal awareness programs with the jail inmates of Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail, Nabha.
During these programs, jail inmates were made aware in detail about plea bargaining, free legal aid and persons entitled to free legal aid. On this occasion, Mani Arora said that the District Legal Services Authority, Patiala is also conducting meditation/yoga camps and medical camps for the prisoners in the jails of district Patiala.
