Una, November 22 - Under the Chief Minister Sukhashraya Yojana, cases of 182 orphan boys and girls of the district have been identified. The cases of 48 identified orphan children have been sent to the state government for financial assistance. In 13 cases approved under Sukh Ashray Yojana in the district, an amount of approximately Rs 9.42 lakh has been distributed to orphan children for education. Raghav Sharma said that the Chief Minister, taking initiative, has given the status of “Children of the State” to orphan children. Raghav Sharma said that after distributing the eligibility certificates of Children of the State, the children were also made aware about the conditions, rules and benefits of the scheme. He said that the district administration will make every effort to connect the eligible children of the district with this scheme. He said that Himachal Pradesh is the first state where the state government is giving grants to the unfortunately orphaned children for their education, house construction, coaching and starting their own self-employment.
Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma said that under the Chief Minister Sukhashraya Yojana, various benefits include marriage grant, coaching grant, higher education, vocational training, skill development and self-employment ventures etc.
He said that the state government will also bear the expenses of food, shelter, food, clothing etc. of these children till the age of 27 years. He said that these children will be given a stipend of Rs 4000 per month as pocket money while pursuing higher education. These children will be taken on field trips within and outside the state once a year with accommodation in three-star hotels and air travel facilities. Under the scheme, there is also a provision for housing grant along with allotment of three Biswa land to landless orphan children for building houses.
Application Process
Deputy Commissioner said that to avail the benefits of this scheme, applicants can apply through the concerned Child Development Project Officer. He said that the eligibility of orphan children will be certified by the District Child Protection Officer and District Program Officer. After this, the entire case along with the preference of the orphan will be sent to the concerned district administration for further action. He said that to avail the benefits of this scheme, the application form is available in the District Child Protection Office and the office of the Child Development Project Officer of the area.
On this occasion, District Program Officer Narendra Kumar, CDPO Kuldeep Singh Dayal and others were present.
