Farmers to use in situ techniques for stubble management and wheat sowing: SDM
Patiala, November 2- In Patiala district, continuous efforts are being made to provide stubble management machines to the farmers and to give the technical information of the machinery to the farmers. Under this, surface seeder machines were distributed to panchayats at block Bhunarheri today.
Gram Panchayat Salempur Walia, Kalamgarh, Bhunarheri, Guthmara, Daulatpur Fakir's panchayats were attended by SDM Patiala Dr. Ismit Vijay Singh and SDM Dudhansadha Kripalveer Singh said that the surface seeder machine is a different type of machine than other machines because it can run with a 35 horsepower tractor and can sow 2 acres of wheat in 1 hour. This machine simultaneously applies seed and fertilizer to the combine cut paddy field and simultaneously cuts the standing stubble (up to 4-5 inches high) in the paddy field and distributes it uniformly. Chopped straw covers the seed which later serves as mulching, reducing weeds and maintaining a favorable soil temperature.
On this occasion, the officials of the agriculture department said that during the sowing of wheat, the surface seeder machine should be kept 4 to 5 inches above the ground and run at the right speed so that the seeds and fertilizers can be applied uniformly and in the right amount. He said that the field is dry at the time of sowing with surface seeder and wheat seed should be sown only after sowing and light water should be applied in the field after sowing.
