During the on-the-spot inspection of the villages of Block Kharar by the Chief Agriculture Officer, it was said that due to the efforts of the Agriculture Department and the wisdom of the farmers, straw management is being done on a large scale by plowing the stubble in the field without setting it on fire. The stubble is being properly managed by the farmers by harvesting the paddy manually in the traditional way.
On this occasion, farmers Jaspreet Singh and Parminder Singh of village Saneta said that they are not burning the paddy stubble for the last five years and have been using their 10 acres of stubble for cattle fodder after harvesting paddy. Similarly, Satwinder Singh, a farmer of Devinagar Abranwan, has also threshed paddy by hand to prevent pollution and has stored the straw for cattle fodder.
Sarpanch of village Bathlana Karamjit Singh said that every year they make bales of paddy straw and supply it to the factory and make the other farmers of the village aware to take care of the straw.
