Fundamentals and Case Studies in Healthcare on 08th January, 2023.

Chandigarh: 08th January, 2023: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, today inaugurated the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy-sponsored Faculty Development Programme on Deep Learning: Fundamentals and Case Studies in Healthcare on 08th January, 2023.

Chandigarh: 08th January, 2023: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, today inaugurated the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy-sponsored Faculty Development Programme on Deep Learning: Fundamentals and Case Studies in Healthcare on 08th January, 2023. This is a 6-day long program from 08.01.2024 to 13.01.2024.  Director of Punjab Engineering College, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Dr. Satish Kumar, Principal Scientist, CSIO-CSIR, Chandigarh as Guest-of-Honor of the Inauguration Ceremony. The ceremony started out with lamp lighting by the esteemed guests.

This program highlights the fundamentals and case studies of deep learning in healthcare. The FDP commenced with the address by Coordinator Dr. Padmavati and Co-coordinator Dr. Sudesh Rani of the programme, who provided insights into the planned sessions over the six-day duration and highlighted the significance of the topics to be covered. The program will have a total of 10 expert sessions to be delivered by academicians and professionals from eminent institutes like CSIO-CSIR, IIT Ropar, IIT Roorkee, IIIT Una, Microsoft Pvt. Ltd., CDAC, etc.

Further, the Director of PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, congratulated the CSE department at PEC for kick starting the first formal event of the calendar year 2024, to be held at PEC. He also expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Satish Kumar for being here at PEC and sharing his expertise in the fields of research & innovation.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by the expert session by Dr. Satish Kumar, Chief scientist of CSIO-CSIR. The topic of the session was “Current Research Trends in Deep Learning”, where he discussed the various aspects and dimensions in which deep learning can be applied in the medical domain, starting from the treatment of diseases to complete health management of the patients, by completely transforming the health experience of individuals.
