Garhshankar police arrested two thugs who asked money from people on phone by pretending to be fake SHOs in the name of SHO police station Garhshankar, a case was registered.

P Garhshankar Daljit Singh Khakh told reporters that under the campaign launched by SSP Hoshiarpur Sartaj Singh Chahal to curb cyber criminals, cyber thugs and people asking for money over phone in the name of Inspector Jai Pal of Garhshankar police station. A huge success has been achieved by arresting a gang that was demanding money from people. Giving information, he said that the said fake S.H.O. On 14 September 2023, Rakesh Kumar, son of Charan Das, resident of Padi Mathawali police station Sadar Banga district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, against whose relative, case number 156 was registered under crime section 326,324,148,149 IPC at Garhshankar police station on 8 September 2023 and arrested. Regarding which the thug who became a fake police SHO told Charan Das's son Rakesh Kumar on phone that I am calling SHO Jai Pal and said that if you want to free your arrested people then deposit Rs 50000/- in my account now. DSP Garhshankar told that after this call, Rakesh Kumar deposited Rs 35,000/- on the phone of the fake SHO. He told that after this Rakesh Kumar reached Garhshankar police station and asked Inspector Jai Pal to release the arrested accused, then Inspector Jai Pal told him that your relative has been arrested under Section 326 and he cannot be released. On this Rakesh Kumar said that I have deposited Rs 35,000/- in your account. The DSP said that when the phone number given by Rakesh was checked, it was not the phone number of any employee of the police station. He told that on September 20, 2023, case number 165 has been registered under Section 420,170, 387,120 IPC on the statements of Rakesh Kumar and accused Sukhmanjeet Singh alias Mani son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Salem Tapri Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana and Surinder Kumar alias Laddu son of Shobha Ram, resident of Amar Nagar Sherpur. Ludhiana has been arrested. He said that a mobile phone and Rs 35,000/- have also been recovered from the arrested accused. DSP Garhshankar Daljit Singh Khakh said that the accused have been brought on remand from the court and they are being interrogated about other incidents.
