A peaceful demonstration was organized at Dana Mandi, Chandigarh on 3rd September by the Joint Front of Employees and Pensioners against this bad policy of the government. Despite ending the dharna after the government gave the date of a meeting on 10th September for resolving the demands, the police registered an FIR against the organizers. Slogans were raised against this government for insulting the electricity workers and it was condemned in strong words.
On this occasion, Kulwinder Atwal, Mohan Singh Buta, Madan Lal, Ravinder Rahon, Gurmukh Singh, Vijay Kumar, Manjit Kumar, Jagdish Chandra, Kamal Dev, Ashwani Kumar Gadhshankar, Balveer Dusanjh, Amar Singh, Hussan Bhatia, Niranjan Kangan, Surjit Singh Charan, speaker Amrik Singh, Jasveer Singh, Joga Singh, Juginder Singh, Kuldeep Sauna, Subhash Qamar, Ishan Makkar etc. said in their address that if the legitimate demands of the pensioners, which include giving multiplier of 2.59 to those who retired before 1-1-16, DA arrears and pending DA installments from 1-1-16, concession in units, increase in medical allowance, restoration of medical cashless scheme, immediate stoppage of Rs 200 per month being deducted in the name of development etc. are not resolved and the cases registered against the conveners are not immediately withdrawn, then a huge dharna will be held in front of Patiala head office on September 25 and campaigning will be done against the government during all four By-elections. In the end, Chairman Mehta expressed his gratitude to the employees and pensioners who had come.
