
Three-day monsoon session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha begins
Chandigarh, September 2 - The three-day monsoon session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha began today. On the first day of the session, tributes were paid to famous poet and writer Surjit Patar and other important personalities who passed away between the end of the previous session and the beginning of the current session.

Meanwhile, the Business Advisory Committee of the Vidhan Sabha decided to sit for extra time today after paying tributes.
On the first day of this three-day session, members of the House paid tributes to former Assembly Speaker Surjit Singh Minhas, former Ministers Sukhdev Singh Dhillon and Surjit Singh Kohli, former MP Kamal Chaudhary, former Rajya Sabha Member Gurcharan Kaur and former MLA Dhanwant Singh. During this, freedom fighters Sardul Singh, Kashmir Singh, Gurdev Singh and Jagdish Prasad were also remembered. The last session of the Vidhan Sabha was held in March. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the departed souls.
