
Workshop organized to reduce disaster risk and losses
Una, August 30 - District Disaster Management Authority Una organized a one-day workshop with disaster friends and young volunteers in the auditorium of DRDA Una on Friday. The workshop was chaired by District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal.

The workshop was chaired by District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. The objective of the workshop was to honor the volunteers who performed excellently in the field of disaster management and international disaster risk and reduction preparation and disaster management. During this, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the selfless service and dedication of the volunteers and inspired them to serve with the same enthusiasm in future as well. He said that it is proposed to train 15 volunteers from all the panchayats of the district in disaster management and this target will be accomplished soon. Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner gave detailed information to the youth about the Samarthya Yojana of the administration.
In the workshop, awareness was created about reducing the losses caused by disasters by establishing coordination in the relief and rescue operations of the Home Defense Department and the Fire Department. Also, emphasis was laid on making disaster friends and young volunteers more capable and playing the role of first responders.
In the workshop, the Deputy Commissioner presented letters of appreciation to 18 volunteers who performed excellently in Madi Mela 2024. Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner also honored 8 other volunteers who made outstanding contributions in the training and awareness camps of disaster management.
On this occasion, CPO Sanjay Sankhyan, Corps Administrative Officer Dheeraj Sharma from Home Defense Department, Fire Officer Suresh, Suman Chahal from DDMA and others were present.
