Patiala, December 30 - Former minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Mujithia today challenged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to head the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the NDPS case filed against him as the present According to the orders of the Home Secretary, Chief ADG PMS Chhina is retiring tomorrow on December 31.
Talking to the media after appearing before the SIT here, Majithia said that this is the fifth time he has appeared before the SIT. He said that although the bail order given to him by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, it is not written anywhere that he will have to appear before the SIT or the Punjab Police repeatedly who have not even submitted a challan in the case in the last two years. But they are law abiding citizens, that is why they have appeared before the SIT. He said that he was earlier invited by the SIT on December 18, during which he clearly said on camera that he should not be invited during the Martyrdom Week because like every Gur Sikh, he also bowed his head before the martyrdom of Mata Gujri and Sahibzada. preferred to join Bani but despite this summons was sent to them on 27th December. He said that after the completion of the martyrdom week, he has appeared before the SIT again today as he does not care about registering any new false case by the Punjab Police. He said that it must have happened for the first time in the history of the country that the head of the SIT was retiring on December 31, so he was summoned on December 30. He reiterated that the AAP government cannot stop them from raising the issues of Punjab through these pressure tactics. He said that he had raised the issue of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's daughter on December 9 and after two days on December 11, summons were sent to him by the same SIT which was constituted in May 2023 and last quarter of the year. They were never summoned during the two years of the AAP government and during this time neither the government could present the challan in the court nor the SIT summoned them.
He said that he understands that the SIT chief is under a lot of pressure as former DGPS Chattopadhyay filed a false case against him but now both the officers are under investigation by the investigation team headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Indu Malhotra. They have been found guilty of security lapses during the Prime Minister's visit to Punjab. They said that Chattopadhyay has already lost the benefits of service while Chhina is worried about the action in the case against him due to which he is forced to obey the orders of the government.
He challenged the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann that instead of putting pressure on the officers, he should confront him directly when he became the head of the SIT. He said that the officers have to pay the price of the actions taken on the orders of the government as former DGP Chattopadhyay is doing.
Responding to media questions about Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, Bikram Singh Majithia said that the statement made by Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament in this matter is very unfortunate and he condemns it. He said that it seems that he has been misled on this matter, although it is an established fact that in the list released on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 2019, Bhai Rajoana's death sentence is at number 9. There was mention of conversion to life imprisonment but this notification was never implemented.
He said that whatever Bhai Rajoana did was an emotional result of the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in 1984, the subsequent massacre of Sikhs and then the massacre of thousands of innocent Sikh youths during the Beantar Singh government and till now the victimized Sikh families have not received justice. could He said that it seems that the Home Minister was misled on this matter. He said that Bhai Rajoana is only saying that either he should be hanged or he should be released because instead of the usual 14 years of life imprisonment, he has served 27 years of imprisonment. In response to another question, the Akali leader said that Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal should not be afraid of ED summons. He said that he himself will go to the ED on January 3 with Mr. Kejriwal when he has been summoned by the ED for the third time.
