Samana/Patiala, August 3 - Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister Chetan Singh Jaudamajra today planted saplings on the newly constructed divider on the Samana-Bhavanigarh road to boost the green movement in Samana. On this occasion Jodamajra said that today we are taking valuable oxygen but if we want to save our future generations then we have to plant saplings.
Chetan Singh Jaudamajra invited the farmers that every farmer should plant at least four plants around their field motors (tubewells) in accordance with the appeal made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to increase the area under greenery in the state. He said on this occasion that increasing the area under forest in the state is the need of the hour. He said that the Punjab government has set a target of planting about three crore saplings in the state under the leadership of the Chief Minister, for which the government has started a comprehensive campaign.
Jaudamajra said that farmers can play an active role in turning this campaign into a people's movement. He said that last year the government had planted a total of 1.2 crore saplings in the state and this year this target has been increased to three crore. Now the time has come, when we should adopt the teachings of Gurbani in our lives to restore the ancient glory of the state while resolving to save the environment of the state.
In response to a question, Jodamajra termed it unfortunate that the central government prevented Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann from going to Paris Olympics to encourage his athletes.
He said that the Center is not only pushing Punjab, but wherever there is an opposition government, the attitude of the BJP government at the Center is reprehensible. On this occasion, Harjinder Singh (Mintu) Jaudamajra, Gurdev Singh Tiwana, Kuldeep Virk, Gopal Krishna Bittu, Sandeep Garg, Surjit Fauji, Ravinder Sohal, Amit Dhaliwal, Sanjay Singla, Ravi Randhawa, Paras Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Harmesh Kularan, Ravinder Balli, Officials of Public Works Department including Deepak Wadhwa and Soni Ghuman were also present.
