Nawanshahr - Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was organized at Krishi Science Centre, Langaroa, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Ballowal Sonkhari, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar participated as Vice President. Dr. Dapinder Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Dr. Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Science Centre, Rupnagar participated in this meeting.
Apart from these, Davinder Kumar District Development Manager NABARD, Paramjit Kaur Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Man Mahinder Singh General Manager District Industry Centre, Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Project Director Atma, Dr. Paramjit Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, Dr. Satbir Singh, Veterinary Officer, Krishan Duggal and Nishan Singh, Sub-Divisional Land Conservation Officers, Rajiv Kumar Assistant Director Fisheries, Sanjeev Kumar District Employment Officer, representatives of other departments, progressive farmers members of the district, and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar were also present. .
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Maninder Singh Bounce, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar welcomed the guests and the farmers. Dr. Bounce presented a report on the activities carried out by this center during the last year.
Dr. Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, shared information about the proceedings of the previous Scientific Advisory Committee and the training courses and activities to be conducted during the year 2024-25.
On this occasion, Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana spoke about the need to increase the value of agricultural products and promote processing. Dr. Bhullar also appreciated the good coordination during the activities being done jointly by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and all the departments of the district for the welfare of farmers. He highlighted the importance of the Scientific Advisory Committee meeting and asked all the departments to share their ideas for further streamlining the activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Dr. Bhullar also shared his thoughts on stubble management, especially the efficiency of the new technology- surface seeder and this cheap and good technology.
Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Ballowal Sonkhri, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, discussed the importance of conservation of valuable resources and agroforestry. He also emphasized on the maximum participation of the students of the area in the degree program of Agriculture College, Ballowal Sonkhri.
