Chandigarh - The working committee meeting of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union was held on Saturday at Press Club Chandigarh under the chairmanship of President Balbir Jandu. The Working Committee in the meeting decided to take necessary steps to solve the problem of issuing yellow cards to the accredited journalists.

It also criticized the officials who are putting up unexpected obstacles to stop the cards of the journalists without any basis. . During the meeting, the government was demanded to take necessary steps to remove the problems of journalists.
On this occasion, presidents, general secretaries who arrived from different districts informed the journalists about the problems faced. Among these issues, yellow card, railway pass, bus travel facility, toll plaza and health facilities were discussed.
In the meeting, it was decided to give demand letters to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Central Railway Minister Ravneet Bittu regarding the demands. In the meeting, the unfavorable attitude of the Punjab government towards the journalists was condemned. On this occasion, the wrong method used by the police and civil administration to suppress the journalists was condemned.
On this occasion, Secretary General of Indian Journalists Union Balwinder Jammu said that a two-day meeting of the National Council of the Union is being held at Panchkula on August 3 and 4.
More than 150 journalists from across the country will participate in the meeting. On this occasion, the issues facing the journalists will be discussed and the strategy will be decided. They demanded the Central Government to form a Media Commission and restore the Working Journalists Act. On this occasion, Jai Singh Chhibber, Bindu Singh, Bhupinder Singh Malik, Gurupdesh Bhullar, Santokh Gill, Rajinder Rikhi, NP Dhawan, Sukhnaib Singh Sidhu, KP Singh, Sarabjit Bhatti, Bhushan Sood and Nawankant Beromjara also expressed their views.
Meanwhile, Bhushan Sood was made Acting Secretary General, Harmesh Virdi as Vice President, Bharat Bhushan Dogra, Sukhnaib Sidhu and Parvinder Jora as Working Committee members.
