The government is afraid of voices and people like Arundhati Roy - Bhasha Singh

Jalandhar - "There should be no illusion about the current government being weak. It will attack even bigger than before. Arundhati Roy is a symbol of how to fight, write, speak and smile in difficult situations. Power fears this smile. If the opposition will not speak against the injustice, then they should also make it known that the people will not listen to them. Power is afraid of people's struggles.

Jalandhar- "There should be no confusion about the fact that the present government is weak. It will launch an even bigger attack than before. Arundhati Roy is a symbol of how to fight, write, speak and smile in difficult situations. The government is afraid of this smile. If the opposition does not speak against injustice, then they should also be told that the public will not listen to them. The government is afraid of the struggles of the people. Despite being the voice of struggles, the government is even more afraid of the pen of writer Arundhati Roy. That is why it wants to implicate her in a case."
These views were presented by eminent journalist Bhasha Singh while addressing the state convention organized by the joint committee against black laws based on more than three dozen public democratic organizations and literary-cultural institutions at the Desh Bhagat Memorial here today.
The convention was presided over by the leaders of three dozen organizations and was attended by caravans of justice-loving people from all corners of Punjab.
The state president of Jamhuri Adhikar Sabha Professor Jagmohan Singh said that the new criminal laws brought in to turn the country into a police state in the name of abolishing the colonial legal system reinforce the colonial laws under new names and are more dangerous than the Roult Act. India's freedom fighters shed their blood to cancel them. He said that enlightened intellectuals and rights defenders like Arundhati Roy, Professor Shaukat, Medha Patekar are behind the fascist attack of strangling the freedom of expression of citizens by silencing them and imposing black laws a deep conspiracy is working to hand over the country's valuable resources to the monopoly capitalists and imperialists of the country.
Well-known lawyers Advocate Daljit Singh and NKJit said that these laws are meant to take away the space of democratic rights gained through struggles. This law is also a violation of international treaties which the Indian rulers have signed.
The state leader of Rational Society, Master Rajendra Bhadour, said that today's gathering will prove to be a milestone in making the public aware of the very dangerous conspiracy of moving towards a police state by silencing intellectuals and imposing black laws. And like the three agrarian laws, the government's latest fascist attacks will be thwarted by people power.
Eminent democratic personality Dr. Parminder said that the awareness of democratic rights emerging in Punjab and the Rakhi movement will add a new chapter in the history of people's struggles. And this will also be a warning to the fascist government that the people of Punjab have not forgotten the great Ghadri Babas, Bhagat-Sarabhas' struggle against oppressive imperialism and the state's fascist steps will be answered by the militant people of Punjab with massive mass mobilization. This gathering is also a warning that if this fascist step is not withdrawn, this campaign will be wider and faster.
The convention unanimously passed a resolution demanding that the case against Arundhati Roy and Professor Shaukat Hussain be completely withdrawn; All black laws including three penal laws, four labor codes, Digital Media Regulation and Personal Data Protection Act, Public Security Act and Maharashtra Public Security Bill, UAPA, implemented in the past should be repealed.
