Nawanshahr - On July 21, three dozen organizations are holding a convention and protest in Jalandhar to impose UAPA, abolish UAPA, repeal three new criminal laws and other black laws based on a 14-year-old complaint against Arundhati Rai and Prof. Shaukat Hussain. A meeting was held at Malkit Chand Mehli Bhawan, Banga Road Nawanshahr by the organizations of district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar regarding the preparation of In which the representatives of Democratic Rights Sabha Punjab, Rational Society, Total Hind Kisan Sabha, ATK, IFTU, Rural Labor Union, Rural Labor Union, Istri Jagriti Manch, Auto Workers Union, Punjab Students Union participated.
Addressing this meeting, the district secretary of Jamahur Adhikar Sabha Jasbir Deep, state committee member Buta Singh, leader of ATK Naranjan Das, leader of rational society Master Jagdish said that the BJP government at the center has used the judiciary to take over the entire system. By renaming the earlier IPC laws, they became the Hitlerite laws. Implemented across the country from July 1, the implementation of these laws has put people's personal freedoms and opinions at risk, as any criticism of the government will be criminalised.
The leaders said that upon the implementation of the new criminal law, those who criticize and speak against the government and the police will be able to register a pamphlet under the new laws. These laws have been brought to enforce the rule of the rod by tightening the provisions of this new Indian Judicial Code. He said that there is a need to raise voice against the registration of sedition case against eminent intellectuals Arudhanti Roy, Professor Sheikh Shaukat Hussain.
He said that despite the rejection by the people in the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government has imposed an unannounced emergency in the country. Imposing UAPA on Arundhati Roy and Professor Sheikh Shaukat Hussain is against the fundamental constitutional right and democratic rights of citizens to express their opinion through writing and speech. is an attack and a move to suppress and silence dissent. This fascist move is being strongly condemned at the world level. Similarly, seeking the immediate withdrawal and cancellation of the orders to implement the three criminal laws passed by force from July 1,
Called the central government's reasoning baseless, that these are to change the colonial laws. But on careful reading, it is clear that there is nothing new in them, but the laws of the British state have been renamed and added to them. Which violate the achievements of the freedom struggle and the guidelines of the Supreme Court. They trample on the fundamental and democratic rights of citizens as well as constitutional and civil liberties and are steps towards imposing an authoritarian police state over the people in the name of justice. There is an attempt to nullify the rights for which our forefathers fought a long battle against the colonial rulers and made sacrifices. Speakers have expressed fear that after the implementation of these laws, worse conditions will arise. Citizens will be subjected to the oppression of the state, and all the freedoms and democratic rights of the citizens will be lost and the entire administrative structure will also come under the grip of the police-system. In fact, the draft of these three criminal laws is more terrible than the emergency of 1975 and not only the citizens,
Even the administrative officers and judges will have to bow their heads in the will of power which will push towards the end of the soul of the democracy. The speakers invited the people of Punjab to fully participate in the convention being held at Jalandhar on July 21 to raise awareness against these dangerous laws.
