
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langaroa, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a training camp for successful cultivation of sesame seeds.
Nawanshahr - In order to promote the cultivation of oilseed crops, training was given for the successful cultivation of sesame seeds by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroa, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at village Dhaul. Farmers from Dhaul and Nawanpind taprias participated in this camp.

During this training, Assistant Professor (Crop Science), Dr. Jaswinder Kumar welcomed the present farmers and shared detailed information with the farmers about proper sowing time, method of sowing, weeding and fertilizer management. Along with this, he shared the points with the farmers regarding the moderate use of groundwater in the monsoon crops of paddy, basmati and maize and the use of chemical fertilizers based on the soil test report.
Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), Dr. Baljit Singh ji gave information about sesame crop and prevention of insects and diseases and advised the farmers to avoid dense sowing of the crop to prevent green oil. He said that green oil also causes phyllodes disease in sesame crops to flourish, which reduces the yield of the crop. Dr. Baljit shared information about the signs and prevention of fall armyworm attack in maize crop. Along with this, he also shared information about the comprehensive pest management of paddy with the farmers.
In this training camp, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Demonstrator (Animal Science) from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, to strengthen the economy of farmers along with agriculture occupation as well as animal husbandry business, imparted information about animal maintenance and balanced diet in rainy season to the farmers. He shared information with the farmers about the prevention of ticks, fleas in cattle and the treatment of diseases pneumonia, udder inflammation in cattle.
