Hoshiarpur - Conducted for Punjab State Proficiency Research Examination and National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme 2023-24. In which 159 students of the district joined the merit scholarship list.
District Education Officer Secondary Gurinderjit Kaur said that 1999 students of class 10 of the district had filled the forms for this exam, out of which 1672 students participated for the competition. Similarly, 2990 students of class 8 had filled the forms for the exam. Out of which 2685 students participated in the exam. He said that a total of 159 students of the district have passed the examination for the scholarship. The District Education Officer said that the objective of this scheme is to provide scholarships to the talented students from the economically weaker section, so that they do not have to drop out of their studies up to class 10.
Under this scheme, such children are encouraged to continue their further studies and are given stipend with a different amount for each class. This amount can range from per month to lump sum. He said that this is the only scholarship examination, which is conducted to recognize and hone the skills, logical reasoning and mental ability of the students.
